Volunteer Agreement

Oblongs Volunteer Agreement

Volunteers are an important and valued part of Oblong. We hope that you enjoy volunteering with us and feel a full part of our team.

This agreement tells you what you can expect from us, and what we hope from you. We aim to be flexible, so please let us know if you would like to make any changes and we will do our best.

You can expect us to:

  • To introduce you to how Oblong works and your role in it and to provide any training.
  • To provide regular support sessions with a designated member of staff so that you have the chance to tell us if you are happy with how your work is organised and get some feedback from us.
  • To respect your skills, dignity and individual wishes and do our best to meet them.
  • To pay your travel and meal costs up to our current maximum*
  • To consult with you and keep you informed of possible changes
  • To insure you against injury you suffer or cause due to negligence*
  • To provide a safe workplace*
  • To apply our equal opportunities policy
  • To apply our Acceptable Behaviour & Problem Solving Policy and if there is a problem

All original text, code, images, design, graphics, sound and any other original content created when volunteering at Oblong will be released under the terms of the Attribution-Share Alike Creative Commons copyright license. This means as the author of the work you agree to a license which lets others alter, add to, remix, tweak, and build upon your work even for commercial reasons, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. This license is often compared to open source software licenses. All new works based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use.

The deeds of the licence state:

That it allows others to be free:

  • to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work
  • to make derivative works

Under the following conditions:
Attribution. They must give the original author credit.
Share Alike. If they alter, transform, or build upon this work, they may distribute the resulting work only under a licence identical to this one.
For any reuse or distribution, they must make clear to others the licence terms of this work.

Any of these conditions can be waived if as copyright holder you give permission.
Nothing in this license impairs or restricts the author's moral rights.

We expect you to:

  • Work reliably to the best of your ability and to give as much warning as possible whenever you cannot attend when expected
  • Follow Oblong’s rules and procedures, including health and safety, equal opportunities and confidentiality
  • Adhere to the following –
  • To respect others and to treat others equally
  • To be sensitive to the needs of others
  • To be friendly and helpful
  • Not to engage in offensive behaviour within Oblong or at Oblong events. This includes racism, homophobia, sexism, aggressive and unpleasant behaviour.

I, ____________________________ have read the above and agree to do my best:
