How Oblong Works

Oblong is a charitable company run by a collective of volunteers and five part-time paid staff. Oblong aims to be ‘non-hierarchical’, i.e. everyone involved has the same power to make decisions as everyone else.

  • All staff are paid the same hourly wage
  • There is no overall manager – staff ‘peer manage’ each other and are supervised by Directors and volunteers
  • Decisions about the running of the centre are taken at weekly meetings open to all members
  • Directors are appointed by a vote of all members at the AGM
